Steelers release kicker Sam Sloman, 4 others in first round of cuts

The Steelers announced their first round of player cuts on Tuesday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers waiting until the last moment on Tuesday but they did finally announce their first five mandatory cuts. All teams were required to have their training camp rosters trimmed to no more than 85 by 3 pm ET and Pittsburgh used one final practice ending just before the deadline to make their final decisions.

Here is the list of the first five cuts:

K Sam Sloman

WR Isaiah McKoy

CB Stephen Denmark

OT Brandon Walton

DL Abdullah Anderson

With the Steelers roster now down to 85, they have one week to make five more decisions about which guys will not move one with the team. Then the following Tuesday Pittsburgh will have to cut 27 guys to get down to the required 53 to start the regular season.
