Paul Reed performs well, but Sixers fall to Timberwolves out in Vegas

Paul Reed had a big game as the Philadelphia 76ers knocked off the Minnesota Timberwolves in the summer league finale.

The Philadelphia 76ers had themselves a solid summer league experience out in Las Vegas as they were able to get some big moments from their second-year players like Tyrese Maxey, Isaiah Joe, and Paul Reed.

In their summer league finale on Sunday, Reed had himself a big performance as he dropped 27 points with 20 rebounds, four steals, and four blocks, but it was not enough as they fell the Minnesota Timberwolves 99-96 in overtime. Reed was all over the place and he was a guy who played with a ton of energy all night long. The Sixers were in need of his production without Maxey and he stepped up in a big way.

Minnesota’s Jaden McDaniels knocked down a huge 3-pointer late in regulation to force the overtime session and the Timberwolves made some big plays in overtime to get it done.

Along with Reed’s big performance, Rayjon Tucker added 16 points off the bench, Aaron Henry added nine points, Frank Mason III had 13, and rookie Jaden Springer added 11 and five assists. Springer also came up with two steals and he knocked down a huge triple late in order to give Philadelphia the lead, but it wasn’t enough.

The younger Sixers will now head back to Philadelphia and continue to prepare for the 2021-22 season. Training camp begins Sep. 28 so the young players now have to make sure they are ready for the rigors and challenges of a full 82-game season.
