Lonzo on joining the Bulls: ‘I wanted to go somewhere I’m appreciated’

The Windy City is the perfect place for Lonzo to be.

Lonzo Ball is officially a Chicago Bull.

Ball signed a four-year, $85 million deal with Chicago. which ultimately became a sign-and-trade deal with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Ball had his introductory media availability on Friday and spoke of his decision and excitement to join the Bulls.

“The Bulls were the team that stood out that really wanted me for me. I wanted to go somewhere I’m appreciated and can play my game. Chicago is the perfect place for that,” Ball said.

The rumors of mutual interest between Lonzo and the Bulls were long talked about prior to free agency kicking off on Aug. 2. As soon as the free agency period opened, Ball’s agreement with Chicago was announced, which was investigated this week for potential tampering charges.

During free agency, the Bulls also signed Alex Caruso and DeMar DeRozan to team up with Ball, Zach LaVine, Nikola Vucevic, and Patrick Williams.

“Zach’s there, Vooch, Coby, Pat, young guys who know how to play. We’re an exciting team, I can see the future and we’re a team that can go up and down and win basketball games. At the end of the day, I’m happy to be a Bull,” Ball said.
