Rockets’ Jalen Green to undergo precautionary MRI on right hamstring

Green suffered a hamstring injury on Thursday in the second quarter and would not return to the contest.

Houston Rockets rookie Jalen Green will reportedly miss the rest of the Las Vegas Summer League due to right hamstring soreness, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Green, who was the second overall pick, suffered the injury on Thursday in the second quarter versus the Toronto Raptors. He came up limping after taking a jump shot and was unable to get back on defense. He checked out of the game and would not return.

The Rockets will administer a precautionary MRI on Green but do not believe it is a serious injury. He said after the game he felt fine but was sad he had to leave early.

Green recorded 13 points and three rebounds prior to the injury.

Houston will certainly be cautious with Green and not rush him back into action. He finished his stint in Las Vegas averaging 20.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and two assists in three contests, totaling 48 points during the Rockets’ first two games.

Green likely doesn’t have much left to prove after an excellent showing through three games. The team can afford to have him sit during its final two games to ensure he is 100% ready to go for when training camp begins next month.
