Nets are ‘having conversations’ with James Harden and Kyrie Irving about extensions

Nets GM Sean Marks is very confident that James Harden and Kyrie Irving will be staying long term with the Nets.

Nets fans along with the borough of Brooklyn rejoiced upon hearing the news that Kevin Durant would be signing a contract extension. Now, James Harden and Kyrie Irving are set to join the party. In a media availability with Sean Marks on Wednesday, the Nets GM made this very clear:

“We definitely had conversations with all three (Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving) of them. Kevin was obviously extremely straightforward and very up front like, ‘I want to be here, get it done and get it done immediately’ — As it pertains to Kai and James, we’re having those conversations with them now. I think there’s no immediate hurry to get any of these guys done in terms of the first days of free agency.”

Marks stressed that it’s not a priority to get those extensions done immediately considering there is plenty of time between now and training camp. However, here is when things got interesting. The Nets GM admitted that he has no doubt that Irving and the Beard will be locked in with Brooklyn too:

“I feel very confident that on the first day of training camp, we’ll be looking at those three in particular being signed, sealed and delivered and being a part of the Brooklyn Nets for a long time to come.”
