[autotag]Ronaldo Souza[/autotag]’s days in MMA have come to an end.
The former Strikeforce middleweight champion and long-time UFC contender decided to retire from the sport. Souza (26-10 MMA, 9-7 UFC) announced the news with Combate on Tuesday night.
Souza last fought at UFC 262 in May when he suffered at he suffered a broken arm in his technical submission loss to Andre Muniz. The result extended “Jacare’s” losing skid to four in a row.
The Brazilian competed in the UFC from 2013 until 2021. Throughout his tenure in the organization, he always remained one of the bigger names in the middleweight division and for the majority of the run was considered a contender.

Souza’s biggest achievement came in 2010 when he defeated Tim Kennedy to win the vacant Strikeforce middleweight title. He would go on to defend the belt against Robbie Lawler to later lose it to Luke Rockhold in his second title defense.
The 41-year-old retires from MMA with notable wins over Kennedy, Lawler, Jason Miller, Gegard Mousasi, Vitor Belfort, Chris Weidman, and Derek Brunson.
