With the preseason right around the corner, a plethora of outlets are predicting how the Vikings’ 2021 season will go.
ESPN was tasked with a win projection recently. The outlet thinks Minnesota will do OK, finishing with 8.5-8.4 wins. ESPN gives the Vikings a 46.4% chance of making the postseason, and a 2.1% chance of winning the Super Bowl.
Another good place to look is the betting market. According to the sportsbook Tipico, the Vikings are +230 to win the NFC North, which gives them the second-best odds to win it. The Packers are the only team with a better chance, per Tipico.
NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal tabbed Minnesota as one of the highest-variance teams in the NFL. That means the Vikings could go either way during next season — either the team’s new signings can thrive, helping it reach the postseason, or it could be another disappointing year, ending with a losing record.
So, to summarize, the Vikings are a team that a lot of people think can be good, but the odds that they would get 10 wins or more seems slim, based on the current projections. Look for the team to be competing for the playoffs in 2021. But don’t put all your hope on a Super Bowl.
