[autotag]Leon Edwards[/autotag] and [autotag]Gilbert Burns[/autotag] got heated on social media Monday over their placement in the UFC welterweight title picture and a potential fight against one another.

Burns (20-4 MMA, 13-4 UFC) has been pushing hard for another big fight against a fellow 170-pound contender, and has zeroed in on Edwards, who beat Nate Diaz by unanimous decision in his most recent outing at UFC 263 in June, with repeated callouts on Twitter.

It finally reached Edwards’ radar, and the Brit reminded Burns that he was an identical position to what he’s currently facing not that long ago. With a 10-fight unbeaten streak, Edwards has stated he’s considering waiting on the sidelines to fight the winner of the upcoming UFC 268 title fight between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington on Nov. 6.

Burns, who is coming off a unanimous decision win over Stephen Thompson at UFC 264 in July, isn’t fond of that play and pushed Edwards to take a matchup with him that would further solidify a championship opportunity.
