Report: Vikings WR Justin Jefferson’s Friday injury is ‘nothing serious’

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Vikings WR Justin Jefferson’s injury is nothing serious.

Justin Jefferson gave Vikings fans a scare when he landed on his shoulder in training camp, which led to him leaving practice Friday.

However, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jefferson’s injury is nothing serious. Schefter reported that the Vikings wideout has a sprained AC joint, but there will be further testing this weekend.

If the injury ends up being more than that, it could spell trouble for the Vikings. Minnesota is thin at wide receiver, even with the acquisition of Dede Westbrook. The Vikings need to make sure Jefferson and Adam Thielen stay relatively this year. Or else, the wide receiver corps will regress.

Minnesota would be forced to rely on Thielen, Westbrook, Ihmir Smith-Marsette and Chad Beebe in a situation where Jefferson was absent. The Vikings wide receiver room already took a blow this offseason when Bisi Johnson tore his ACL.

Jefferson is coming off a season where he had 1400 receiving yards and seven touchdown receptions as a rookie.
