Ronnie Harrison to miss practice due to hamstring injury

After leaving practice early yesterday, Harrison will miss today’s practice. Cause for concern?

Injuries will always be a big part of NFL training camps and the most important storyline. With the Cleveland Browns having high aspirations this season, injuries would be an even bigger part of the story.

After leaving practice early yesterday with a hamstring issue, Ronnie Harrison’s status was up in the air. The good news yesterday was the trainers trying to stretch out the Browns safety before walking back with him into the building. Generally, if the injury is serious that would not occur.

We then got the news that it wasn’t a knee issue, as was initially thought by reporters, but a hamstring issue.

Despite those pieces of good news, Harrison will miss today’s practice:

Cleveland is likely being extra cautious with the safety they acquired just before the 2020 season started. With John Johnson III coming over in free agency and Grant Delpit returning from an Achilles tear, the Browns were hoping to run a lot of three safety looks with Harrison.

While having three starting level safeties will help in case of injury, not having all three would impact defensive coordinator Joe Woods’ plans for a second straight year.
