Things are getting predictably funky during the 2021 NBA draft, with Stadium’s Shams Charania reporting that the Boston Celtics are interested in pursuing New Orleans Pelicans restricted free agent point guard Lonzo Ball.
“Chicago we all know about their interests going back to the trade deadline. But I’m told two more teams that have shown interest in Ball — Boston, [and] Toronto,” shared Charania, noting the price tag would likely be in the $21-22 million per season for the team retaining his services. Such a move would present some serious challenges in terms of cap management for the Celtics as star forward Jayson Tatum’s rookie max extension kicks in, though the fit is otherwise a solid one.
Stay tuned as we monitor this intriguing story line currently unfolding on the even of the 2021 draft.
