The announcement of Madden ratings can be a humbling experience for NFL rookies. The video game makers are rarely kind to the younger players, who are unproven and, in some cases, need time to carve out a role.
So while the top rookies were the best players in college football, they are rarely immediately among the best in the NFL. And their ratings reflect that. The rookies rarely see it coming when they’re predicting their ratings, so their reactions are typically pretty darn funny when they see their ratings for the first time.
Madden NFL 22 shared the ratings with some 2021 rookies, including Patriots quarterback Mac Jones and Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II. They had very funny reactions, with Jones feeling like he was getting trolled with his “break tackle” rating and Surtain disagreeing strongly with his “awareness” rating.
Here’s a look.
