Recently LSU Tigers wide receiver was named to the Maxwell Trophy Award watchlist for the top offensive player in college football. Now Kayshon Boutte can add another watch list to his resume with the announcement of being added to the list for the Biletnikoff Award.
Last season Boutte would become the leading receiver in yards for the LSU Tigers after an explosion in the season finale against the Ole Miss Rebels. In that game alone he accounted for 308 yards through the air and three touchdowns. His final three games of the year are where he made his mark.
Boutte’s first 100-yard performance came against the Alabama Crimson Tide where he caught eight passes for 111 yards. He added three kickoff returns for 50 yards as well. The next week Boutte caught five for 108 yards and a touchdown in the upset win over the Florida Gators.

The sophomore receiver is now under the spotlight for the award presented to the nation’s best wideout. Boutte will be a key player in the offense in the upcoming season and he looks to haul in this award.
The Fred Biletnikoff Award was first presented in 1994 when Penn State’s Bobby Engram was the first to win the honor. It wasn’t until 2001 with Josh Reed that an LSU Tiger was bestowed the award. In 2019 another Tiger won the award with Ja’Marr Chase. He finished the year with 84 receptions for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns. Just absolutely dominating performance on the team’s way to the College Football Playoff’s national championship.
Boutte looks to become the third Tiger to pull off this achievement.
