Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel took part in his third American Century Championship — a celebrity golf tournament — over the weekend, but as he predicted he didn’t fare so well.
Vrabel ended up finishing tied for 76th (-28) out of nearly 90 participants, matching the score of NBA Hall of Famer, Charles Barkley. The Titans head coach fared worse than he did in 2020, when he finished tied for 42nd (-4).
Vrabel did, however, finish ahead of fellow NFL head coach, the Buffalo Bills’ Sean McDermott, who placed 81st.
Former NBA guard Vinny Del Negro was the big winner, beating out former MLB pitcher and Hall of Famer, John Smoltz, in a sudden death playoff. You can check out the full results right here.
While it wasn’t a great weekend for Vrabel’s golf game, we did get this cool picture of him with NFL Hall of Famer Marcus Allen and actor/comedian Larry The Cable Guy.

Ahead of the tournament, Vrabel wasn’t very high on his chances, according to Jim Wyatt of Titans Online.
“I’d say (my odds are) more than that,” Vrabel said. “I think we all go out there for one reason, and that’s the American Century Classic, is to be around the families. That’s the thing I noticed was to be around family and also other great athletes and people that really let their guard down, relax, have a good time, enjoy some unbelievable conditions and unbelievable golf course.
“That’s really why I’m going out there. And I’m going to make a couple of birdies and a ton of double bogeys and that’s just how it’s going to be. I’m going to have good times along the way, I know that.”
The good news in all of this is that at least we don’t have to worry about Vrabel quitting his day job to become a professional golfer.
