Blade Tidwell pitches three shutout innings in Team USA intrasquad game.

Tennessee pitcher Blade Tidwell made his second appearance for the USA Baseball National Collegiate Team on Saturday.

Tidwell, a sophomore for the Volunteers, combined with two other pitchers in a two-hit shutout as the Stars defeated the Stripes, 7-0, at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Tidwell (1-1) pitched three innings and recorded two strikeouts. He did not allow a hit or walk in his second outing for Team USA, which is in the midst of a series being played in Appalachian League ballparks.

The Appalachian League is in its first season as a summer collegiate league.

Tidwell combined with Miami’s Carson Palmquist and Florida State’s Peter Messick in the shutout for the Stars, who hold a 5-3 lead in the series.

Tennessee’s Drew Gilbert started in center field for the Stripes and went 0-for-3.
