The first season in Detroit for defensive tackle Nick Williams didn’t exactly go as well as hoped. Williams came to the Lions from the Chicago Bears as a free agent with expectations he would help bolster the pass rush and solidify a shaky defensive line.
It did not work, not for Williams or the team. He’s back for a second chance with the Lions under a new coaching regime, and one of his former Chicago linemates is still bullish on what Williams offers Detroit.
Akiem Hicks, who played alongside Williams for two seasons (2018-2019) with the Bears, offered up some interesting praise for Williams via Twitter.
Hicks quote-tweeted our friends at Pride of Detroit, who wrote up a nice exploration on why the Lions kept Williams. It’s quite a journey from Hicks in less than 240 characters…
Run stuffer, pass rusher he’ll fill the Gatorade coolers, walk the dog. And eat all the fruit snacks in the building. They don’t make em like that no more💯 a blessed acquisition https://t.co/uu7JQ9WTdg

Williams is known for having a fun-loving personality, and it’s clear Hicks still holds his former mate in high regard even though he now plays for a rival.
