The UFC returns to pay-per-view this Saturday with UFC 264, which means the popular “Embedded” fight week series is back, as well.
UFC 264 takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card streams live on ESPN + pay-per-view, with prelims on ESPN and early prelims on ESPN+.
The main event features what might be the most anticipated fight of the year as [autotag]Dustin Poirier[/autotag] and [autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag] will settle their score with a trilogy fight. It was McGregor (22-5 MMA, 10-3 UFC) who finished Poirier (27-6 MMA, 19-5 UFC) in their featherweight bout in September 2014, but Poirier knocked out McGregor in their lightweight rematch this past January at UFC 257. They’ll meet at 155 pounds in their third matchup this weekend.
The UFC 264 co-main event features a welterweight showdown with title implications as [autotag]Gilbert Burns[/autotag] (19-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC), No. 3 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie 170-pound rankings, takes on No. 4 [autotag]Stephen Thompson[/autotag] (16-4-1 MMA, 11-4-1 UFC).
The second episode of “Embedded” follows the featured competitors during fight week. Here’s the description from YouTube:
Gilbert Burns packs his lucky undies for fight night. Stephen Thompson runs hills in the heat. Dustin Poirier checks in with his family from Vegas then trains with his team. Gilbert Burns works out in the UFC Performance Institute.
