Former Notre Dame baseball star and current Baltimore Orioles standout Trey Mancini will participate in the home run derby during MLB’s All-Star Game festivities next month in Denver, and when he does he’ll have one of his former coaches at Notre Dame throwing to him.
Mancini let it be known that Notre Dame pitching coach Chuck Ristano will throw to him during the derby, as Mancini fulfills a promise he made to Ristano years ago.
Ristano has been Notre Dame’s pitching coach since 2011 and coached 17 different Fighting Irish pitchers that have been drafted during that time.
The 2021 MLB Home Run Derby takes place on Monday, July 12.
