Titans’ Mike Vrabel lands in top half of PFN’s head coach rankings

Mike Vrabel is the second-longest tenured head coach of the Titans era.

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is entering his fourth season with the team in 2021, making him the second-longest tenured head coach in the Titans era behind only Jeff Fisher.

Vrabel has seen a great deal of success during his time in Nashville.

The Titans have never experienced a losing season under him and have made the playoffs in each of the past two seasons, one of which included an AFC Championship Game appearance in 2019.

While Tennessee didn’t make it as far in the playoffs in 2020, the franchise did experience its first double-digit-win season and division title since 2008.

With all that in mind, Vrabel landed at No. 12 in the head coach rankings of Pro Football Network’s Dalton Miller, who also placed Tennessee’s lead man in the “established and good” tier.

Miller’s thoughts on Vrabel:

Mike Vrabel’s teams have won nine-plus games in each of his first three seasons as a head coach. Benching Marcus Mariota was his first big decision, and it turned out to be a possible career-defining one. Ryan Tannehill has looked the part of a franchise quarterback, and Derrick Henry’s career has taken off since Vrabel’s arrival.

The former Patriots’ great appears to connect with his players well. Adding Julio Jones to the mix should make for some fireworks in 2021.

Vrabel lands slightly higher on this list than he did in that of NBC Sports’ Patrick Daugherty, who ranked him at No. 14 earlier this month.

Looking ahead to 2021, expectations are about as high as they have ever been for the Titans, especially during the Vrabel era. If Tennessee can meet those expectations, Vrabel will be moving up this list in 2022.
