It’s been just under a week since Major League Baseball started having umps checking pitches for illegal sticky substances and we finally have our first ejection.
Seattle’s Hector Santiago was tossed in Chicago while he was making his way off the field after being lifted in the fifth inning. The umps took a few moments checking his glove and then made the ruling.
Santiago, who came in as relief in the third inning, had his glove confiscated and officials put it in a bag for some reason. The whole scene was a weird one.
Here’s how it played out in the Mariners-White Sox game:
UH OH!! Looks like we may have our first POSITIVE substance check. Hector Santiago's glove has been put into some sort of bag to be shipped off for inspection. What a time we're living in. pic.twitter.com/ZyDCtJ7Fim

His reaction was pretty good:
Hector Santiago is the first pitcher tossed after a glove inspection and his reaction was priceless. pic.twitter.com/k3rIg4FcIw
