The Baltimore Orioles, who are off to an awful start again this season, called up 33-year-old Mickey Jannis yesterday for his first stint in the major leagues.
The fun thing about Jannis, who became the third oldest player in Orioles history to make his MLB debut last night, is that he throws an absolutely wicked knuckleball.
Last night he got thrown to the fire a bit and gave up seven runs to the Houston Astros in 3.1 innings of relief. The Orioles lost the game, 13-0, and are on pace to lose over 100 games this season.
But let’s forget about all of that for a second and just watch this beautiful knuckleball strikeout by Jannis:
