Will Bengals keep Joe Burrow on NFL-leading pace again in 2021?

How much will the Cincinnati Bengals have Joe Burrow passing next year?

Last year, Zac Taylor and the Cincinnati Bengals had quarterback Joe Burrow throwing a lot.

How much? As Graham Barfield pointed out on social media, the Bengals had Burrow on pace for a league-leading 658 attempts through 10 weeks. The percentage of attempts never dropped below 59 (when leading).

Before his injury, Burrow completed 65.3 percent of his 404 attempts with 2,688 yards and 13 touchdowns against five interceptions.

Atlanta’s Matt Ryan ended up leading the NFL with 626 attempts last year as one of just three passers over the 600-attempt mark. But with the way the league keeps trending, it wouldn’t be too shocking to see that number of passers breaking that threshold keep climbing.

As for the Bengals, they have made it pretty clear the plan is to involve Joe Mixon in the offense even more — mostly via passing downs — than in past years.

Still, the presence of Tee Higgins, Tyler Boyd and Ja’Marr Chase means Burrow will be slinging it plenty, too.

So while Mixon figures to get a spotlight and the offense could probably use some better balancing, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Burrow flirt with leading the league in attempts as a sophomore.
