Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie plans to decline his $12.3M player option for next season, according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. This means the 28-year-old will test the waters in free agency, and a return to Brooklyn is not guaranteed.
Dinwiddie suffered a gruesome injury in December, partially tearing his ACL. The injury ended his 2020-21 campaign.
Dinwiddie averaged 6.7 PPG, 4.3 RPG and 3 APG before the incident. It was his lowest scoring number since arriving to the Nets. In his five seasons for Brooklyn, the former Colorado guard went from being one of the most slept on players in the league to nearly making his first All-Star appearance in the 2019-20 season.
