Four more Florida baseball players enter transfer portal

Gators lose another four players from its 2021 roster to the transfer portal after a disappointing end to a season with high expectations.

According to multiple reports, four more members of the Florida baseball team have entered the transfer portal. It was initially reported that Cory Acton, Jordan Butler and Brock Edge would be heading elsewhere, and now it seems that list is getting longer.

Hunter Mink, Chase Centala, Mark Roberts and Ben Specht are also seeking greener pastures elsewhere as the turnover following a disappointing 2021 season continues.

Roberts didn’t appear in any games in his first two seasons with the team, and Mink saw minimal action this season, making just three appearances out of the bullpen. Centala made seven appearances with a 2-0 record and 2.13 ERA, but he only saw action in one game once SEC play started.

Specht had high expectations as a COVID sophomore, being selected to the Preseason All-SEC Second Team as a relief pitcher. However, he finished the year with just an 0-2 record and a disastrous 13.86 ERA in his eight appearances.

Though Florida has now seen seven departures since the team was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament (not including the players sure to leave for the professional ranks this summer), none of them were players expected to play a major role in 2022, leaving the Gators’ core largely intact, at least for now.
