Free agent QB Jake Dolegala at Packers minicamp for tryout

The Packers have a young quarterback in Green Bay for a tryout during minicamp.

The Green Bay Packers are offering a young quarterback a chance to earn a roster spot during the team’s three-day minicamp.

According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, free agent quarterback Jake Dolegala is in uniform at Packers practice on Tuesday, but only on a tryout basis.

Dolegala, a four-year collegiate starter, originally signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent from Central Connecticut State in 2019. He spent much of last season with the New England Patriots but was released after the 2021 NFL draft.

Dolegala was with the Atlanta Falcons for a rookie minicamp last month.

The Packers may want another quarterback on the roster – joining Jordan Love, Blake Bortles and Kurt Benkert – if Aaron Rodgers continues to skip offseason workouts. Rodgers, the 2020 NFL MVP, is not in attendance for the start of minicamp on Tuesday.

Dolegala completed 654 passes for 8,129 yards, 48 touchdowns and 29 interceptions over 44 games in college. He holds the school record for passing yards and touchdown passes.
