Former Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker will reportedly visit the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday for a workout, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Walker is the second former Titans tight end set to visit the Niners for a workout this week. MyCole Pruitt is also scheduled to fly out to meet San Francisco on Tuesday for a workout on Wednesday.
Walker sat out the 2020 campaign to rest his body after two injury-shortened seasons in a row, but told Pat McAfee back in December that he planned on returning in 2021.
The soon-to-be 37-year-old tight end was drafted by the 49ers in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL draft and played his first seven seasons there before coming to Nashville and turning into one of the better tight ends in the game.

Free agent TE Delanie Walker is flying to Santa Clara for a workout with the #49ers tomorrow, source says. Perhaps another stint with the Niners for Walker, who was with them from 2006-12.
Walker sat out last year but said on the @PatMcAfeeShow in December he would play in ‘21.

We have been a proponent of the Titans bringing Walker back due to their need at the tight end position.
Tennessee is currently set to have Geoff Swaim and Anthony Firkser take the top-two spots on the depth chart, but neither is a true every-down tight end. Firkser struggles with blocking and Swaim doesn’t offer much as a pass-catcher.
Granted, Walker likely can’t carry the load anymore, but he wouldn’t have to in Tennessee to with Swaim and Firkser behind him as solid complementary tight ends, and he is more well-rounded than both.
If Walker is looking for a better chance at more playing time, that would come in Tennessee, as the Niners already have a superstar tight end in George Kittle atop the depth chart.
Of course, there would have to be mutual interest there and so far there has been no evidence that is the case between the Titans and Walker.
Walker was seen in a workout video back in April looking spry, and he keeps himself in phenomenal shape, so there’s a good chance he can fend off Father Time for at least one more year to make an impact wherever he goes.
