Construction at Titans’ facility could limit open training camp practices

The Titans might be limited in opening up training camp to the public.

The NFL has opened the door for teams to allow fans to attend some training camp sessions in 2021, but the Tennessee Titans could still be limited at best in that area.

In a recent mailbag article, Jim Wyatt of Titans Online was asked about the Titans having training camp sessions open to the public this year.

He revealed that might not happen at Saint Thomas Sports Park, which is currently undergoing expansion construction that will go into July and August. Training camp starts on July 27.

Wyatt did note, however, that the Titans will likely try to hold open practices at Nissan Stadium, something we’ve seen in the past.

Question: Not sure if this has been asked yet, but are there going to be any training camp practices open to the public?

Jim:Hey T. Nothing has been decided officially, but I’m going to shoot you straight here: Saint Thomas Sports Park is under major construction, and it’s going to be well into July and August. So while the NFL paved the way for open training camp practices this week, things are not going to be back to normal with Titans camp. I’m sure the team will try and hold some open practices at Nissan Stadium, and potentially elsewhere, but we’re a year away from the open practices at STSP that we’ve seen in the past.

One thing we will see returning to normal is the Titans holding joint practices with another team. Head coach Mike Vrabel recently revealed Tennessee will take part in joint sessions with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, their preseason Week 2 opponent.
