The No. 1 priority for the Cincinnati Bengals should be keeping their franchise quarterback Joe Burrow upright and healthy. We don’t know all the details of what goes on behind closed doors but the odds are that Burrow wanted Ja’Marr Chase with the fifth overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, and the Bengals delivered upon Burrows wish.
Tough to argue with either side.
From a fantasy football perspective, it’ll be tough to pass on Chase if he’s as good of a prospect as most think, and the chemistry with Joe Burrow just adds to that intrigue.
Chase is fully expected to see A.J. Green’s departed 104 targets, and then some.
If you include the anticipated red zone targets due to Chases chemistry with Burrow, you could be looking at a top-20 season at the wide receiver position. For a rookie, that’s pretty solid.

If you look back at the history of rookie receivers and fantasy football, the data will suggest that the ones that have early success are typically drafted within the first two rounds of the draft.
- Calvin Ridley
- A.J. Brown
- Justin Jefferson
- A.J. Green
- Chase Claypool
- CeeDee Lamb
- Julio Jones
- Odell Beckham
- Mike Evans
- Kelvin Benjamin
- Amari Cooper
- Michael Thomas
- JuJu Smith-Schuster
That’s quite the list of company and I firmly believe that a year from now we will be including Ja’Marr Chase to that list.
Fantasy Football diehards should get accustomed to drafting Ja’Marr Chase, in all formats.
