The Julio Jones saga with the Atlanta Falcons took a crazy turn. Recently Jones, 32, did an interview on FS1 where he said he is leaving the Falcons. Trade rumors had long been swirling.
Per Falcons Wire, Jones, who was on the phone with talk-show host Shannon Sharpe at the time of the comments, actually didn’t even known he was on live TV during the talk. Still, a candid comment is pretty telling, so it appears he’s going to be traded.
While the Bills do have Stefon Diggs, Cole Beasley, & Co., they were given odds to land Jones. They weren’t great, but only 11 teams received odds, and the Bills were one.
Considering that, the longshot is appearing to get longer.
The latest update on Jones, according to NFL analyst Chris Simms, is that the All-Pro wideout has two teams on his crosshairs: The Titans and the Patriots.
By comparison, both the Titans and Patriots have much bigger needs for a playmaker than the Bills. Not mentioned before were the likes of Emmanuel Sanders and Gabriel Davis in Orchard Park as well.
Such an excess of talent for the Bills at the receiver position makes one not surprised that Jones would prefer elsewhere. Having said that, the Titans would be the much more preferred spot than the Patriots, but the Falcons will send Jones to whoever gives them the best value in a trade.
