2020-21 Rockets roster review, offseason outlook: Danuel House Jr.

House is entering the final year of his existing contract, which could make the 2021 offseason a pivot point for his future in Houston.

Rockets Player: Danuel House Jr., 6-foot-6 forward, 28 years old (as of June 7)

Statistics in Houston: 8.8 points (40.4% FG, 34.6% on 3-pointers), 3.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists in 25.9 minutes per game

Professional Experience: Five NBA seasons

Contract Status: Signed through 2021-22

After an encouraging March in which House shot 59.3% on 3-pointers, he sprained his ankle in early April and missed most of the remainder of the 2020-21 season due to injury. Between the ankle sprain, back spasms, and a stint in the NBA’s health and safety protocols, House simply wasn’t on the floor enough to find his rhythm. In total, he missed exactly half (36) of Houston’s 72 regular-season games. For a relatively young player without a major injury history, it was a disappointing year.

Nonetheless, House is under contract for 2021-22 at a fairly inexpensive rate ($3.9 million), so he will likely get another opportunity. On paper, he has the talent to be a strong shooter and versatile defender.
