With the draft lottery order being set on Monday afternoon as multiple tiebreakers were decided, ESPN’s DraftExpress released an updated 2021 mock draft.
The Hornets won their tiebreaker on Monday against the Spurs, moving up to the 11th pick in the lottery. With that pick, DraftExpress mocked Gonzaga forward Corey Kispert.
As part of arguably the most talented team in the nation last season, Kispert averaged 18.6 points on 52.9% shooting from the field and 44.0% shooting from the 3-point line. While he doesn’t have age on his side in the draft at 22 years old, that should mean he can step into the league and contribute from day one.
For the Hornets, Kispert would provide sorely needed depth on the wing. The 6’7″ prospect would be another true wing on the roster, joining Gordon Hayward, Jalen McDaniels and Miles Bridges, who only played there due to injuries late in the season.
Kispert’s shooting would also be valuable to the Hornets. Last season, the Hornets ranked 14th in the league on 3-point percentage at 36.9%.
