Day one of the 2021 ACC baseball tournament came to a close Tuesday night in Charlotte as the No. 10 Pittsburgh Panthers got back in the win column with a 5-3 victory over No. 6 North Carolina.
Ron Washington, Jr.’s two-run home run in the eighth inning gave the Panthers the advantage they needed in ending their seven-game losing streak and starting the conference tournament with a victory.
In case you’re a baseball fan and wondering, yes, that same Ron Washington is his father.
Pitt can now clinch a spot in the conference semi-finals if they’re able to upset No. 3 NC State on Thursday.
