One of the nation’s top recruits for the class of 2023 has his decision narrowed down to four schools, LSU being one of them.
Five-star quarterback Malachi Nelson is expected to announce his commitment on July 18, his parents’ anniversary.
The other three schools in the running are Ohio State, USC, and Oklahoma. The top-ranked quarterback in California has yet to hint at which school out of the four he’s leaning towards.
LSU is also heavily recruiting top 2023 ranked quarterback Arch Manning, who isn’t expected to make a decision anytime soon. Should Nelson commit to Ed Orgeron’s football program, that could eliminate their chances of landing Manning.

With Nelson knowing LSU is on Manning’s radar, this could have great impact on his decision, and he could potentially announce his landing at one of the other three schools.
It will be interesting to see how this shakes out and how the quarterback situation continues to shake out at LSU both in the present and for the future.
LSU has a quarterback competition brewing between Myles Brennan, Max Johnson and Garrett Nussmeier. At least one of those three will be put to the test when LSU opens the season against UCLA in September.
