There has been a ton of hype around Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow recently.
One expert says Burrow is already better than Ben Roethlisberger. Another says Burrow can be a sleeper MVP candidate.
So we thought it would be fun to step back and actually look at those odds. Over at BetMGM, Burrow has +5000 odds to be the 2021 NFL MVP.
Meaning, he’s got better odds than most players listed, including names like Matt Ryan, Aaron Donald and Big Ben. He’s right on par with Deshaun Watson and Derek Carr.
Understandably, Burrow is behind league leaders for the award such as Patrick Mahomes (+600) and Aaron Rodgers (+800).
As for Burrow’s classmates, he’s behind Justin Herbert (+3000) but ahead of Tua Tagovailoa (+6600).
If nothing else, it’s fun to see how oddsmakers feel about these sorts of things before a season starts. They actually seem to have some pretty solid faith in Burrow’s ability to bounce back, especially thanks to the upside he flashed last year.
As for Burrow, his surgeon says he’s right on track for a Week 1 return, which would 100 percent help his MVP case.
