LSU QB TJ Finley not intimidated by competitive Alabama QB room

TJ Finley isn’t concerned about the depth Alabama has at the quarterback position.

Sophomore quarterback TJ Finley may not be staying at LSU for the 2021 season, but there seems a strong chance he’ll remain in the Southeastern Conference.

The 6-foot-6, 242-pounder who officially entered the transfer portal earlier in the month has been tied to Mississippi State, Auburn and Alabama within the SEC.

Finley seems unintimidated by the possibility of joining the latter, even though he’d enter an absolutely stacked quarterback room.

The signal-caller recently said in an interview with 247Sports that he believes Alabama “would be dangerous if I was to join them.”

That’s quite the statement to make about walking into the locker room of one of the nation’s most elite football programs, but the confidence can certainly be appreciated there.

Finley himself has just scratched the surface of his potential as he faced a lot of adversity in the first year of his college career in 2020.

Last season, he started strongly in relief of starting quarterback Myles Brennan, but his performances quickly became more up-and-down than anything else.

Despite issues with consistency and decision-making, we’re still looking at a small sample size here — from a true freshman taking the reins unexpectedly in the midst of unprecedented circumstances.

He completed 57% of his passes for 941 yards with five touchdowns and five interceptions in 2020.

Will Finley see the field for LSU’s arch enemy? It will undoubtedly be something to keep an eye on as he nears his decision.
