A future University of Tennessee baseball player helped his team make it back to the Division II-A state baseball tournament.
Christian Academy of Knoxville senior Andrew Kribbs, a UT commitment, helped the Warriors sweep a doubleheader and win a best-of-three series against Columbia Academy Thursday.
The series win will give CAK an opportunity to defend its 2019 state championship.
The Warriors defeated the Bulldogs in the series opener, 2-1, and claimed Thursday’s nightcap 10-2.
In the first game against Columbia Academy, Kribbs went 0-for-3 and reached base twice, drawing a pair of walks.
In game No. 2, Kribbs, who can play multiple positions for the Warriors (32-8), went 1-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and one RBI.
He also pitched one inning of scoreless relief, striking out the side in the bottom of the seventh inning.
CAK has won the last two Division II-A state championships. The Warriors won the 2017 Division I Class AA state title.
