The Houston Texans liked what they saw from former Alabama cornerback Shyheim Carter at their rookie minicamp over the weekend.
The Texans will sign the former Crimson Tide cornerback, according to Aaron Wilson of SportsTalk 790.
Carter provided the SEC West program with 43 tackles, an interception, and a forced fumble in his senior season with the Tide in 2019.
Carter went undrafted in 2020, and has since stayed with the Alabama program as a graduate assistant. Incidentally, that means he would be working on the same coaching with former Texans coach Bill O’Brien, who is now the offensive coordinator under coach Nick Saban.
The Texans did not draft a cornerback in the 2021 NFL draft, and their position group is pretty stacked with Vernon Hargreaves, Terrance Mitchell, Desmond King, Bradley Roby, and Keion Crossen.
