New York Knicks at Los Angeles Lakers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s New York Knicks at Los Angeles Lakers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The New York Knicks (38-30) wrap up their six-game Western Conference road trip Tuesday with a visit to Staples Center for a 10 p.m. ET meeting with the Los Angeles Lakers (38-30). Below, we analyze the Knicks-Lakers odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

New York earned perhaps the biggest win of its season by upsetting the Los Angeles Clippers 106-100 Sunday as an 8-point road underdog. The Knicks are 3-2 straight up and against the spread over their first five games of this road swing.

L.A. snapped a two-game losing skid by beating the brakes off of the division-leading Phoenix Suns 123-110 Sunday as a 6.5-point home dog.

The 7-seed Lakers are slotted in play-in territory and need this game like blood if they are going to overtake the Portland Trail Blazers (40-29) for sixth in the West.

The Knicks handled the Lakers without PF Anthony Davis and SF LeBron James in a 111-96 win as 1-point home favorites in their first meeting this year (April 12).

Former Lakers forward and current Knicks All-Star PF Julius Randle scored 34 points on 13-for-23 shooting with 10 rebounds in New York’s victory.

Knicks at Lakers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Knicks 108, Lakers 104

Money line (ML)

Slight “LEAN” to the KNICKS (+180) for a tiny wager if at all because I “like” New York plus the points, but this is a must-win game for the Lakers (-225) so I’m not keen on the Knicks upset.

Against the spread (ATS)

Definitely BET the KNICKS +5.5 (-110) heavier than or instead of their money line because this is just a better spot for the healthier Knicks with more continuity at the moment.

The Knicks are 16-9 ATS as road dogs with a plus-3.3 ATS margin and the Lakers are just 12-15 ATS as home favorites this season.

Also, New York is 16-12 ATS vs. non-conference opponents while L.A. is 10-17-1 ATS against Eastern Conference teams.

Finally, who knows how much of LeBron we see tonight. There’s a good chance he’s on some minutes restriction and this physical Knicks team is about the worst opponent for him to be facing if he’s working through an injury.

New York is rolling right now, is in pole position for hosting its first-round playoff series and covered the spread in eight of its last 10 games as a road dog.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS because my inkling is to bet the Under since we have two of the best defenses and slowest-paced teams squaring off.

Given the circumstances, the Lakers’ superstars could erupt and the Knicks quietly have the fourth-best 3-point shooting percentage in the league.
