Bad news for the Boston Celtics’ overall health ahead of a crucial game with the Miami Heat for seeding — the team has downgraded star forward Jaylen Brown to a scratch for the Celtics’ Sunday matinee contest against the Heat at TD Garden at 1 p.m. Eastern Time.
There had been some hope that Brown would be able to return from a right sprained ankle aggravated in a collision a week ago at the end of a tilt with the Portland Trail Blazers, but it seems the Georgia native isn’t quite ready to return to action, the team playing it safe with the All-Star wing’s health.
Big man Robert Williams III remains listed as probable with a case of turf toe in his left foot.
#NEBHInjuryReport update vs. Miami:
Jaylen Brown (right ankle sprain) – OUT
Robert Williams (left foot turf toe) – PROBABLE— Boston Celtics (@celtics) May 9, 2021
The Celtics will likely need his services to have a solid chance of beating Miami this afternoon, who have won seven of their last 10 contests and are trending towards full health, officially without only guard Victor Oladipo.
