What do you think of the Minnesota Vikings taking North Carolina LB Chazz Surratt in the third round of the 2021 NFL draft?
The Vikings made an interesting choice in the third round of the 2021 NFL draft.
Despite having needs at wide receiver and defensive end, Minnesota took North Carolina LB Chazz Surratt. The team taking a linebacker is likely a testament to how highly it viewed Surratt, considering the Vikings only really needed depth at that position.
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox thinks Minnesota did a good job in taking the linebacker, listing Surratt as the Vikings’ best value pick of the draft. Here’s what else he wrote:
“The former Tar Heels standout should instantly add some much-needed playmaking ability to Minnesota’s linebacking corps. A terrific all-around defender, he amassed 91 tackles, six sacks, 7.5 tackles for loss, three passes defended and an interception last season.”
My only issue with this is that Surratt’s play-making won’t really be vital until 2022 at the earliest. Of course, it’d be great for the Vikings if he thrived as their third linebacker next season.
