Alejandro Villanueva says it ‘wasn’t really a tough decision’ to join Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens signed Alejandro Villanueva to a two-year deal. He said joining Baltimore “wasn’t really a tough decision”

The Baltimore Ravens signed tackle Alejandro Villanueva to a two-year deal to solidify an offensive line unit that struggled to play well at times in 2020, especially in Baltimore’s 2021 Divisional Round loss to the Buffalo Bills. Villanueva is an excellent pass blocker while also imposing his will in the run game, and should be a solid addition to the Ravens’ offense.

Baltimore decided to wait until after signing unrestricted free agents would no longer impact the compensatory pick formula. Villanueva revealed during his introductory press conference with Ravens’ media members that choosing to play in Baltimore “wasn’t really a tough decision”.

Villanueva had pointed out earlier that the Steelers had told him that he wasn’t coming back to the team early so that he could find another opportunity. His comments speak to how well-run the Baltimore organization is, as it seems like he had a pleasant experience during his free agent process.

The Ravens secured their right tackle for the 2021 season while impressing him along the way. It seems like both parties are excited to work together, and Villanueva should provide some stability to a spot on the offensive line that was a bit of a revolving door after the injury to left tackle Ronnie Stanley.
