The latest phenomenon in professional boxing seems to be for the Paul brothers, YouTubers Jake and Logan, to challenge ex-NBA players, fellow YouTubers, ex-UFC fighters and, uh, Floyd Mayweather Jr. to bouts and make an obscene amount of money in the process.
The entire concept is a farce, but people can’t look away. And Thursday’s media event for the June 6 Logan Paul-Floyd Mayweather exhibition fight in Miami was exactly why.
At some point during the event, Logan’s brother, Jake (who knocked out Ben Askren recently) got in the face of the boxing legend. After an exchange of words, Jake snatched away Mayweather’s hat, which then set Floyd off throwing punches.
All of this is so dumb. (NSFW language)

Paul would post the aftermath on Instagram, looking like he got a black eye from the confrontation.

Given that the Paul brothers and Mayweather are all about self promotion, it wouldn’t be surprising at all if Jake was willing to take a punch from Mayweather to hype up this fight. It gets people talking about a fight that doesn’t matter. It gets sites, such as For The Win, writing about a fight that doesn’t matter.
If this was a serious fight, you might have seen Mayweather’s intense security detail step in before Jake had a chance to swipe that hat. I refuse to give any of that scuffle credence because it simply does not deserve it.
But hey, they’re all going to make so much money from this, so well played, I guess.
