After sealing a much-needed win on Saturday against the Houston Rockets, the Golden State Warriors will meet the New Orleans Pelicans in road back-to-back with heavy playoff implications. Game one of the two-game run in New Orleans will have a unique twist.
ESPN will debut a Marvel superhero-themed broadcast titled “Arena of Heroes.” The special-themed showing will feature different superheroes from Marvel’s deep roster, including Iron Man, Black Panther, Captain America, Captain Marvel and more.
The alternate Marvel broadcast will take place on ESPN 2 with a traditional broadcast of the tilt between the Pelicans and Warriors on ESPN.
Ryen Ruocco and Richard Jefferson will serve as commentators for the game alongside Marvel host Angélique Roché. The play-by-play team will call the game from a special Marvel studio. The broadcast will also include custom graphics and different 3-D elements.
Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins, Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball will be able to gain “Marvel points” for scoring, rebounding, assists and notable achievements during the contest.
The Warriors and Pelicans are expected to begin their contest at 4 p.m. PST on Monday.
