It took a while but the Pittsburgh Steelers finally addressed their need at outside linebacker in the sixth round. The Steelers selected Miami EDGE Quincy Roche with the No. 216 overall pick.

Roche as a prospect is raw but shows some solid upside. He’s got good handwork which helps with the fact he’s not very strong at the point of attack and doesn’t do well once he’s locked up with an offensive lineman. He’s got a squatty build the Steelers like for their outside rushers and he just needs the benefit of NFL training and coaching to get stronger and more polished.

The Steelers are desperately thin at outside linebacker beyond T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith so look for Roche to be in the fold fairly early as a rotational player despite being more of a project player.
