Poor Kyle Trask. He’s going to be the reason Tom Brady plays forever.
Trask, who the Buccaneers drafted in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, is now destined to waste so many of his prime years waiting for Brady to falter or waltz off — just like so many signal-callers who had the unfortunate luck of being dubbed his heir-apparent.
OK, I’m being a tad hyperbolic. Brady is 44 years old. At some point, he has to retire. Right? I think so. Almost certainly? Yes. Yes? Yeah. Sure.
And it’s actually not so bad to backup Brady. Just look at the careers of Matt Cassel, Brian Hoyer and Jimmy Garoppolo (and, heck, even Kilff Kingsbury).
But when the Buccaneers drafted Trask as a potential successor to Brady, everyone had jokes about how the pick would likely just motivate Brady to play even longer. Here’s what folks were saying on Twitter.

QB Kyle Trask to the #Buccaneers, who will trade him to another team in three years as they prepare to sign 46-year-old Tom Brady to another extension.

But seriously, we can all agree Brady is playing until he’s 50? Yup? Yup.
