The Washington Football Team filled their hole at linebacker in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft by selecting Jamin Davis of Kentucky.

After the draft, Washington head coach Ron Rivera and general manager Martin Mayhew met with the media to discuss the pick.

One thing Rivera liked about Davis was his position flexibility. He can play each of the linebacker positions for Washington, and that’s a big deal.

Rivera noted how Davis’ best football is clearly ahead of him, playing a major role in why he was the team’s selection at No. 19.

One thing that really stood out in Rivera’s press conference was him saying Davis was the highest-rated defensive player on Washington’s board when he was drafted.

Finally, Rivera discussed the quarterback position. Justin Fields was still on the board after the top 10 picks. Washington reportedly liked Fields but was never tempted to move up and sacrifice future assets.

Will Washington look for a quarterback on day two? Or will the WFT continue adding multiple pieces to the team and look for a quarterback in the future?

Day two should continue to bring plenty of intrigue to Washington.
