One of the biggest questions all offseason was whether the Tennessee Titans would address receiver or cornerback in the first round.
Well, we got our answer on Thursday night. With the 22nd overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft, the Titans selected Virginia Tech cornerback Caleb Farley.
Although arguably the most talented corner in this class, he is a controversial pick due to his nagging back injuries. He recently had a second back surgery in March to repair a lingering bulging disc issue.
When healthy, Farley is as talented as any cornerback to have come out in recent years. He has the rare blend of size, speed, and skills that defensive coordinators are salivating for in today’s NFL.
Adding someone like Farley will likely yield an immediate impact towards Tennessee’s defense and could provide an instant influx of talent and potential into the secondary upon his arrival.
With all that said, let’s take a look at what some of the twitter reaction was following the selection of Farley.
Caleb Farley is a top 10 talent. Compared him to Marlon Humphrey. Without injury issues, he has elite ability.

Caleb Farley in 2019:
• Targeted 50 times
• Allowed just 18 catches (36%)
• 257 yards allowed 5.14 YPA
• 1 TD allowed, 4 INTs
• 26.8 QB rating (lower than grounding it every play)Elite ELITE player if he can get/stay healthy. Very similar to the Jeffery Simmons pick.

.@Titans do have a history of drafting for talent despite injury. See @GrindSimmons94 coming off ACL. https://t.co/9I6sLC5630

Welcome to Nashville Caleb Farley 👏👏

Whatever you think of the Caleb Farley pick, he’s already better than last year’s #Titans first round pick. @NC5

Considering how badly the Titans wiffed last year in the first round, Caleb Farley is a major risk. Hope it works out.

Caleb Farley looks like a great corner to me, provided his back isn't an issue. There is some risk built-in. Has a ton of confidence. Janoris Jenkins-Farley-Kristian Fulton is the CB trio now, with Fulton the likely nickel. #Titans

High risk, high reward for Titans here. An injured player, Caleb Farley, the year after your first round pick is one of the biggest busts in NFL history. Two years ago Titans drafted Jeffrey Simmons coming off ACL injury and it worked out. We’ll see on this one.

If Caleb Farley is healthy he’s going to be a problem! Dude is stupid talented.

Caleb Farley. High risk, but high reward possibilities. #Titans

Way to go @Titans Caleb Farley is hands down one of the five best players in this draft. I have never seen a corner with his size move the way he does. His speed is next level. He can be a super star
— Chris Simms (@CSimmsQB) April 30, 2021
“Caleb Farley held QB’s to a passer rating of 26.8% when targeted — best among all power five cornerbacks.
To put that percentage into perspective, if the QB were to spike the ball on every play, they would finish with a passer rating of 39.6 percent.”— Shaun Calderon (@ShaunMichaels31) April 21, 2021
