Caleb Farley had to watch the draft alone because of Covid-19, and it was sad

This explains why he appeared alone on screen.

Caleb Farley experienced something kids everywhere dream of, and few ever accomplish: He got selected in the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday night.

But Farley, unlike every other player shown, was alone. No family to hug or dance with or even swiftly walk away from.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Farley tested positive for Covid-19 twice and was therefore not allowed to attend the draft or even watch with friends or family.

So when Farley, a cornerback out of Virginia Tech, was selected by the Tennessee Titans with the No. 22 pick, the screen flashed to him standing alone in what appears to be a hotel room.

Without realizing what was going on, people began making jokes:

Some people made the same joke:

All things considered, Farley handled the situation admirably. It’s got to be surreal to experience that long-awaited moment without the people who helped you to get there.

Then again, nothing about the last year or so has been as we once expected it to be.
