Minnesota had some glaring weaknesses on the offensive line this past season.

PFF ranked the Vikings offensive line 26th in 2020. Minnesota leaked pressure from the interior. Vikings tackles Riley Reiff and Brian O’Neill played well, but with Reiff’s departure, the exterior offensive line has emerged as an offseason need.

Enter Virginia Tech OL Christian Darrisaw, who could be a big boost to the Minnesota offensive line. The Vikings took Darrisaw with No. 23 pick in the 2021 NFL draft after the team traded back with the New York Jets.

Throughout the Mike Zimmer era, the Vikings offense has been good, but the offensive line has oftentimes been inconsistent. With this pick, the Vikings can start to build on an offense that is coming off a successful 2020 campaign.

Minnesota needed to fill some starting spots through the 2021 draft. Darrisaw is certainly a good start.
