Is it a foregone conclusion that the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to draft a running back this season? It really feels that way but the question is how early should Pittsburgh spend a pick on a back. Many fans are fully committed to Najee Harris or bust but some of us aren’t so sure.

The smart guys over at ESPN are dropping little draft nuggets and rumors out there one day ahead of the first round and this one about the Steelers caught our eye.

Many mock drafts have pegged Harris to Pittsburgh at No. 24. While we don’t know who they will pick, we do know the Steelers consider him a special player, as many teams do, and they will try to find a running back somewhere in the first two days.

The Steelers were the worst rushing team in the NFL last season but much of that falls on the offensive line. Ideally, if the Steelers do choose to draft a running back in the first three rounds they don’t do it at the expense of the line.
